What to Expect

A quick guide to what happens in your first few sessions

Step 1: Book a consult or session

Choose a time that works for you and book through the portal. You will then create your secure client profile, where all your forms, invoices, and appointment details will be stored.

Step 2: Fill out the forms

  • Adults: You’ll sign consent and intake forms online before we meet.

  • Kids/teens: A parent or guardian signs consent. If parents are separated or divorced, both need to sign and any parenting agreements or court orders must be provided.

Step 3: The first session

For adults:
The first session is about getting to know each other and setting some goals. It is also about helping you feel comfortable in the space. You are welcome to bring anything that makes the session easier, such as a notebook or a fidget. Light snacks are available.

For children and teens:
The first session usually starts with a parent joining us in the room so we can review consent together and make sure everyone is on the same page. After that, I’ll spend time with your child or teen at their own pace. They are welcome to bring a favourite toy, comfort item, or fidget to help them feel more settled.

Step 4: Moving forward

After that, we will decide on next steps together. We will figure out how often to meet, what to focus on, and any strategies or practices that might be helpful between sessions.
